The Hakui (white vest/白衣) with sleeves can be worn on the Shikoku henro and on
other pilgrimages throughout Japan. This is an original product and can only be bought
with us. It has been designed incorporating the wishes of many henro; it is more
functional and much lighter. It has been designed to absorb and remove sweat and
maintain body temperature, and also provides a dry, smooth, and comfortable feelings
that lasts for the entirety of pilgrimage. There is no need to worry about sunburn
because of 99.5% UV and UPF 50+ protection.

■UPF（ultraviolet protection factor）

The UPF rating indicates how effective a fabric is at blocking solar ultraviolet radiation.

UPF ratings range from 15 to 50 with higher ratings indicating more effective blocking
and therefore better protection for the wearer of a garment. Fabrics that test higher
than UPF 50 are rated as UPF50+.

Our new series of Hakui is 20% lighter (46g/0.10 pounds). It is machine-washable and
wrinkle-free, so that you can start your pilgrimage journey each day feeling
comfortable. On the inside of Hakui and pants, you will see a tag indicates the product
has ‘deodorizing/antibacterial effect’. We provide it with ventilation (mesh processing)
on the back of the knees and waist. There is a pocket on the front and the phrases
Namu Daishi Henjō Kongō (南無大師遍照金剛) and Dōgyōninin (同行二人) are printed on
the back of Hakui. It is the most comfortable and functional white vest we have ever
made.
