Nōkyō-chō with watercolor painting (Anniversary of the Shikoku Pilgrimage Registered as a Japan Heritage Sites)

¥3,500

In 2015, ”Shikoku Henro" ~ Circular Henro Route and Unique Henro Culture ~ has become one of Japan Heritage sites.

We have been providing the regular size (B5) Nōkyō-chō (stamp book) with a beautiful and high-class golden brocade (kinran 金襴) on the cover to celebrate it.

The cover expresses the henro path in spring.

There are beautiful watercolor paintings of each temple on the stamp pages and there is also a color drawing of Koubou-Daish (Kukai) on the first page and information about the Japan Heritage sites.

There are 89 pages, one for each of the 88 temples on the Shikoku pilgrimage (from the first temple Ryozen-ji to the 88th temple Okubo-ji), and one for the inner sanctuary at Mt. Koya.

On each of these pages you can receive the temple seal (or stamp).
(There is no watercolor painting of the inner sanctuary at Mt. Koya.)

On the watercolor painting pages, we have designed butterflies flying at flower gardens to express beautiful spring.

The individual pages are made of quality Japanese paper called washi, so that characters written on it with black ink will not be visible on the reverse side.

In 815, Koubou-Daish (Kukai) founded the Shikoku Pilgrimage to spread the teaching of the new religion in Japan. His great deeds have led us over 1200 years.

”Shikoku Henro” was registered as a Japan Heritage site by supporting of many visitors and we recommend to visit the Shikoku Henro with the memorial Nōkyō-chō.
